The world famous village of Cheddar is a fantastic place to start your walking in The Mendips adventure.

You could also try some of the local cheese and cider while you are there!

Cheddar has good public transport links with buses coming from Weston-super-Mare and Wells, find more information HERE.

If you are driving to Cheddar, there is a public car park at the bottom of Cheddar Gorge next to The Riverside pub or paid parking available at a number of spots as you drive up through the gorge.

Walkers are warmly welcome in Cheddar, so much so there is an organisation called Cheddar Walking. They have a fantastic website where you can find many different walking routes of various levels starting from the centre of the village. Take a look at their website HERE.
