A weekend in Shepton Mallet celebrating the snowdrop!
Saturday February 19th from 10am to 4pm
Sunday February 20th from 10am to 3pm
Shepton Mallet was home to James Allen, an amateur horticulturalist who was the first person ever to breed new varieties of snowdrops from wild plants - a feat which earned him the nickname of the 'Snowdrop King'
The Snowdrop Festival is a vibrant not-for-profit community project to plant Shepton Mallet with hundreds of thousands of snowdrop bulbs, and to restore the Allen family memorial in the town's cemetery, in order to celebrate James Allen's and the town's place in gardening history.
