Discover how the gorge was formed and walk to Gully Cave, the archaeological dig, to learn about the early mammals that lived in the last ice age.
Fun packed family day of ‘sand pit fossil digs’, story-telling, guided walks to gorge and caves and much more to reveal the reserve’s unique geology and rare archaeological finds.
With Mendip Hill’s AONB, SESC, The Mendip Society and Natural England. Prof Danielle Schreve will give guided walks to see Gully Cave digs - site of important early mammal bone finds.
Booking for geology walks and cave tours on arrival.
Parking on site.
Family activities to include :
- pebble wildlife trail
- geo time story trail in gorge
- rocks and fossils and pebble painting.
Refreshments from pop up cafe on site.
Donations welcome for Mendip Rocks.
